I hope you all have had a pleasant time including awesome music since I last wrote. From now it will only get even better!

Today is going to be the day I return to bring exceptional music to your body and soul. And to show that I really mean it, I dug up something that's been in my Favourites list for quite a while but that didn't make it into this blog yet.

To be honest, I found tons of excuisite material. More than I can cover.

This time our journey brings us to Finland to a fella whose name is Jere Häkkinen. He is an original founder of the label Freakdance Records. There they release music from creators of the suomisaundi genre like Puoskari or Luomuhappo.

Wait, suomisawhat? Like you, I did not have any idea of what this is, what it sounds like and what it's overall supposed to be. I was told that it is a mixture of finnish electro psychedelic music and since I am a kind of curious guy I decided to look out for it. As always it did not take very long and I found out that suomisaundi is described as finnish psy trance that was inspired by Goa in the mid 90's.

I had absolutely no clue what it would sound like since my thoughts connected to Goa don't leave any room for temperatures below 24°C and endless nights paired with the grim finnish spirit.

I was totally biased since I only knew the finnish metal scene.

However, I always leave enough room to get (pleasantly) surprised. After doing some research, and also due to not giving up too early, I found the already mentioned Jere Häkkinen and his project Luomuhappo.

When I listened to this song I immediately thought: This is exactly what this strange mixture of different styles and culture has to sound like! The very relaxed rythm carries you far enough to keep on listening closely. The melodies tell stories of mythical forests where fairies and trolls dance. And all you do is to float over this scenery, being the silent watcher, breathing in tree pollen that shine in the golden sun light. The melodies jump up and down, sway back and forth and I check and realise I do the same. This song creates an amazing atmosphere. It has a very natural feeling to it.

Suomisaundi definitely manages to set itself apart from other Goa or Trance related music.

I am sure there are many occasions where you can listen to it, maybe except for busy places like the office or downtown. But then again, maybe it helps you escape from stress and ill feelings?

Yet another half-baked heading

Hello everyone this is nexus-sound back with some more incredible music for you guys out there who are, without any doubt, eager to discover what I have for you this time! Now I've been thinking a lot about when the 90's will finally be coming back as we gain more and more distance to those times right before the millenium and I think that history and taste have been repeating themselves since FOREVER and it is unlikely to stop now. So yes, that indeed is the conclusion I made and I am actually quite sure about it so call me Nostradamus or a hipster or maybe both! However, as this is a blog about music and as I try NOT to spend too much time on evaluating what I should write, let me just get to the important stuff.

The band's name is Morphine and they existed pretty much only in that particular decade I was talking about before. Frontman Mark Sandman died 1999 and that was the end of the band until the other band members, so I heard, decided to revive it in 2007 but I do not consider it a serious reunion because in those past 6 years they haven't released a single album, yet, but surely there's none to come and they probably just ran out of money.

Nevertheless, back in the day they used to do some awesome type of music which was not too common and they sort of introduced the style "dreamrock". However, frontman Sandman used to call it "lowrock" which I think does not only sound way more cool but also resembles better the way their music sounds. Apart from the usual instruments that are used in a rock band, like bass and drums, they tend not to use a guitar and a saxophone instead, creating a blues-ish spirit.

Gasp!!

Cheesus Christ!!!

Who would have thought we would return after such long absence? Yes, of course, I did! I had quite some things on my mind and to be honest I was uncertain about the future of this blog. However, it never was the question whether I want to continue writing (I actually did quite a lot of writing recently, but not for this blog nor another than rather shortstorys.) I did a lot of thinking about how and what I want this blog to be. I came to the conclusion, that I still want to show you music that I like and which I think is stunning, but I do not want to focus on its "uniqueness" any more. Music always stays unique, even if you perform the same song over and over again, because the circumstances never are the same. Another reason is that the way music has an impact on somebody is dependent on the emotional state of that somebody. If I'm feeling happy because I had a great night drinking and having fun and start to write something about a song I just heard, this feeling might possibly apply to just the same kind of persons who were in the same state as I was; just to exaggerate a little bit *cough*.

What does that mean? It means I'm going to start showing "more profound" music which maybe doesn't have such a huge impacts. The music is still far better than average, still on the very top of my musical taste.

Back to business

When I started my day I didn't put on my music or anything. I didn't have the urge to do so when it suddenly hit me. An earworm out of the nowhere (I heard the british like this expression, which originates from Germany, pretty much. This is my contribution to the languagetransfer!)

I actually had no idea which song it was that was stuck in my head, I still don't. But the seed was planted and so I started looking for some Mad Caddies songs I've remembered from my good ol' Punk Rock and Ska times. However, I started digging up Youtube, blogs and forums as it is my nature and I found a band from - I was surprised - Germany. 

Speaking of surprise, I just remembered my food, cooking, since I started writing this post... Here a short lesson dear readers: Enthusiasm is dangerous! Ok.

The band is called Boxing Fox and consisted of 5 guys from Braunschweig. Unfortunately they disbanded in 2012. Nevertheless, their songs are good third wave ska and it's nice to follow the upbeat. As it's typical for ska it's good for dancing with some ease, and that's the way ska should be.

But I suggest you give it a try yourself!

Hello everyone,

I'm back from the grave and you know what, life is pretty darn awesome if you ask me. So is the piece of gold you will listen to shortly (no doubt). It happens to be autumn, therefore being cold as fuck, making me susceptive to Drum'n'Base again. I know, DnB-tracks ar close to similar regarding the repetitive drum patterns, but either you've got the thrilling affection to this kind of music, or you don't. So, as I actually LOVE it, there is no way of this not getting posted!

Getting back to business.
What's pointing out in this track are definitely the drums...

Just kidding: Melody it is.
Although the song is typically driving (THE attribute of DnB), the melody casts its chillout-spell upon it.
Would be absolutely out of place in a lounge, if you ask me, but the combination of both, drive and chill out, is really appealing.

Hey everyone.

It has been quite some time since my last post. Unfortunately I hardly find time right now.
That does not mean I'm not listening to music anymore neither I don't find new songs, which I do. It just means you will not see that many posts in the future, i guess (at least until I start trying to find distraction from my studies). So, as I am currently sick, and I hate it, I just remembered the thing to do and that is why I will show you some classical HARD ROCK, hell YEAH!!!!

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, Blue Öyster Cult (BÖC).
Just some trivia, for the sake of it:
They originally formed in 1967. Back then they named themselves "Soft White Underbelly" which changed in 1970/71. Playing at college-parties in the beginning the band ended up touring the world. They were the first to use an umlaut in their band name (like Motörhead, Mötleycrüe and so on did later) and introduced Laser-shows for stage-performances. After a pause they restarted BÖC and they currently stll exist.

The song you are going to listen is called Burning for you. It is one of their most succesful and famous ones.

Several reasons...

... push me to lead your ears and eyes to Aphex Twin. Tonight, after spending quite some time to find new, to me unknown electronic music, I stumbled upon the song Windowlicker.
The result is... weird.
Why?  I can't really tell. I am mostly certain that not just a few people will dislike the track or at least not appreciate it as much as I think I do.
You probably think now "What's wrong with that song?"
First of all, I did not just listen to it, I watched the music video. And that video is totally weird and somewhat creepy. Richard James aka Aphex Twin looks like a pimp and has a lot of "hoes" in his car.
Well, that's standard in so many music videos you'll say and you're right. But this is different and I won't tell you because you have to see it for yourself.
It's creepy; it's strange; but hillarious at the same time. Last one's probably the reason I like it ;-)

Sound
As I mentioned before I was searching for electronic music. This song is pretty progressive and experimental. He uses a lot of pitched voices to create the sounds beside of his drum kit. Overall, there are almost no similar cycles throughout the roundabout 6 minutes it takes. That's awesome!
But it needs attention and is quite hard to listen to it alongside for  this song is simply an intelligent one. Even one may not really like it that much, I think you should at least deal with such kind of music if think of yourself as somebody who is aware of music.

Aphex Twin - Windowlicker

There are good musicians everywhere,...

...even in game developing studios!

What I'm going to show you now, is taken from Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines which was released in 2004 and also came with several licensed songs.
However, the title Vesuvius was composed by Rik Schaffer and was named after a brothel in the fictious Hollywood of the game.
Of course, the style of this song is meant to fit into such atmosphere. And I must say, Rik did his job very well. This track makes you comfortable, forces you, in a soft way, to lean back and relax.
It sets the basic conditions to pleasure. It is cool.
Now this isn't a song you listen to while you're on the road or like to party hard.
So if you don't run a brothel, a chill-out lounge or anything similar, this is a song to enjoy at home and at night with dim light.

And together it'll be even better, if you know what I mean ;-)

Jon Lord, hammond-organist of the famous Deep Purple passed away the 16th of July.
I wish his dearest the strength to endure their sorrow.

The most difficult post for me to write so far.

I greet you readers!

Today I want to show you something that amazes me every single time I listen to it.

The song is called Movie Screens and is performed by the band Midas Fall, who started in 2009. Although they are a relatively new band, they already enjoy great popularity and played in several major european cities.Their style is described as Postrock. The usage of for example synths, piano or simply the beautiful voice of Elizabeth Heatons' they create very dense and atmospheric songs.

This song is their absolute best performance. It starts slow and gains more power as the song goes on.

It electrifies you with every second that passes leading to a greater final where emotions finally explode. When the song ends it leaves a void. Imagine seeing the most beautiful flower you've ever seen and think of never seeing it again. That would be really tragic but fortunately we can listen to it over and over again ;-)

However, this song creates an affection that I rarely experience. The density and atmosphere is way to high so you can't just "listen" to it. This is a living piece of music. Almost extraterrestial.

Art at its' best.

This is... kinda new!

Hey folks!

It....is.... TIME. Yes, as I said I want to widen out the variety of the songs presented here, I thought I really need some decent Hip-Hop in here ;-). Now, I don't want to post a random SnoopDog-, Dr. Dre-, Grandmaster Flash-, 2pac- or Notorious B.I.G.-song that everyone is likely to know already!
And that's harder than it sounds, because my knowledge of HipHop is rather low.
BUT my superior taste in everything ;-) led me some day to Del Tha Funkee Homosapien (short: Del). The first album I got to know is from his project Deltron 3030, which is self-titled and sole as there are no further albums. I noticed Dels' style was kind of oldschool so I got interested. While listening, it remembered me of music my brother used to hear in the 90's. Of course there are differences in Deltron 3030, but nevertheless I think it's pretty close to oldschool, especially if you don't look at the production and lyrics.
So I dug deeper just to find some of Dels' earliest works. What I like about it is the simplicity that lies within the lyrics. It was taken from life and put into a song made by someone totally, I'd say, from next door. It is something probably everybody already has experienced. There's a good chance Del himself had a situation like this just the day before he had the idea for this track. I like it because I can identify myself with that. Not like so many songs we are made to hear nowadays.
The music itself is simply cool and funky, the whole track very funny.

Del Tha Funkee Homosapien - Sleepin on my couch

Here we go again!
Now this time I want to show you a song that is nowadays rather known for a movie published not so long ago. It appears in V for Vendetta, a movie that takes place in a mostly dark future in which england has fallen in the hands of a mind-manipulating government, bringing violence to those who defend themselves from propaganda and the police, forming a resistance.
However, the protagonist, simply called V, who constantly wears a Guy-Fawkes-mask, is the public enemy #1 as he terrorizes the government with pure violence. But nevertheless he is a very well educated man who saved tons of then forbidden books and arts.
This is the song which is played a few times in the movie, mostly in his hideout.

Now to the song itself (finally! phew).
It was performed by Julie London in 1957 and was so far her most successful one. It is a very soft and silent piece of jazz that invites to close your eyes, forget and dream a little bit. Although it appears to be a rather sad song, I think it also bears some kind of dignity. It doesn't decay in its own regrets but faces them, rising again and continuing after all.
So, if you'll listen to this song now or anytime else, rest and take some time of peace.

There it is, the result of an idea which popped out just on my way home.

What is it?
I think of it as a project, to show some, in my humble opinion, golden pieces of music art one shall not miss.

What's so special about these songs?
I try to make this point as simple as possible. Maybe some professional musicists, students of art or scientists can describe music in some way and can put it in patterns that create the illusion of understanding music. But what they can't describe in a 100% perfect way is what music creates inside yourself. It's the feelings they make you feel, the shivering they cause or they simply blow your mind.
After all, all that matters is joy. If you can enjoy music in that unique way it is all worth the while.

Why do I do it?
Because I want to share those songs. Maybe they don't fit your mood exactly, but those who happen to pass by here and who can enjoy the music the way I do (or different, as long as it is good) then everything I wanted to achieve is done.

What is nexus?
In the dictionnary it says, it's "a complicated series of connections between different things" or in latin, it is "the act of binding together".
My goal here is that I collect different kinds of music and i don't want to commit to only one.
So I try to show a variety of songs here and that's where nexus fits and what it has to be.

Well, as this already got longer than intended here's the first song that felt so very strong when I heard it again today. I'll try to say more about the songs I post but I really  have to go ;-)
